Use Facebook's official account recovery
Go to facebook.com/hacked → 'My account is compromised'. Follow the automated recovery steps. This works for most standard hacks.
Recover through trusted contacts
If you set up Trusted Contacts before being hacked, you can use them to recover access. Go to login screen → 'Forgotten password' → 'Get more help' → 'Reveal my trusted contacts'.
Identity verification
Facebook's identity verification requires uploading a government ID. This is the most reliable method for complex hacks where email and phone were changed.
If your ad account was compromised
A hacked Facebook with an active Meta Ads account is especially urgent. Hackers often run fraudulent ads. Report the compromise to Meta through business.facebook.com/support.
Secure your connected accounts
After recovery, immediately change passwords on Instagram, WhatsApp, and any service using Facebook Login. Enable 2FA on Facebook and all connected accounts.
